FAQ
We spent our first 11 years at Hotel Hacienda Morelos. In 2018 we moved our dive shop to the Marina at Hotel Marina El Cid Beach and Spa Resort, just 1.5 km south of downtown Puerto Morelos. The Marina facilities are wonderful for divers. Our boats are moored at the closest pier and it is a dry entry onto our boats. Clients can enjoy a hot shower in the restrooms after their dive so bring a towel and a dry change of clothes.

Transportation:
We are happy to arrange a van pick up and drop off for you daily at reasonable rates. Our van rates are often less than the taxi rates. We use local drivers who are punctual and reliable. Check out our transportation page HERE.
If you plan on diving a number of days, a rental car is often cheaper than taxi fare.
Our dive shop is within easy walking distance of Marina El Cid, Ventus El Cid, NOW Jade and Grand Residence Resort.
Dive Sites:
We have over 40 different dive sites and are always out looking for more. We have beautiful reefs as shallow as 25 to 30 feet that are excellent for novice divers. Deeper reefs from 40 to 60 feet provide habitat for an abundance of marine life and are a dream for underwater photographers. For the more adventuresome diver, we have deep and drift dives, the deeper you go the bigger the life. We have sites to please or challenge every level of diver. We do our deeper, more advanced dives (2 tanks) in the morning from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and our shallower, more relaxing dives (2 tanks) in the afternoon from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. In addition, we offer dive tours to the spectacular underwater caves (Cenotes) of the Yucatan Peninsula and excursions to the famous walls of Cozumel.
How we choose our dive Sites:
The first diver or group to make a deposit for a specific time slot can request their dive site/depth profile. Subsequent divers will be offered space on the tour as it is scheduled, or they can pick a different time slot. Final choice of the dive site is made by the dive guide, on the day of the tour. That choice is influenced by the weather and ocean conditions, dive site requests and diver skill level. We have a fleet of three boats and we do our best to create groups with the same goals/dive profiles.
Snorkeling & Diving combination:
We do not provide snorkeling and diving on the same tour. The ocean currents at the surface can be stronger than the currents at depth. A diver can use the corals of the dive site to hide from the current, whereas a snorkeler on the surface is at the mercy of the current. The safety of our clients is our primary concern and the boat must stay with the divers. In addition, we use different sites for snorkeling verses diving. The snorkel sites are very shallow (10-15 feet) and are not suitable for diving and our best diving sites (40-50 feet) are too deep to see much while snorkeling.
We do allow people to ride along in the boat, provide there is space. The cost is $25 dollars per person. They can jump in the water with snorkel gear and play around. The captain will let them know when it is time to get back in the boat.
Having said all of that, there are a few exceptions:
Snorkeling:
Our snorkel tour takes you out to the coral reef by boat to two different snorkel sites. The depth of the water is shallow, about 10-20 feet, so you are very close to the life. Life vests are mandatory as the reef is part of our National Park. We ask that you please use only biodegradable/reef safe sunscreen while out at the reef. Full equipment rental and National Park entrance bracelet are included. The tour lasts about two hours.
Equipment Rental:
All of our diving and snorkeling services include full equipment rental with your choice of short or long wet suit. You will find that our equipment is new and well maintained. You are welcome to bring some or all of your own gear. We will happily assemble, carry, rinse, dry and store it for you each day. With the current airline weight restrictions and charges for overweight bags, many of our guests are choosing to leave their equipment at home. If you have a favorite regulator, mask or wet suit it can be nice to have those with you but, you really don't need to bring anything. We do not offer a discount for bringing your own gear.

Having said all of that, there are a few exceptions:
- Tours to the MUSA sculpture park, where the depth is only 20-25 feet, are an excellent option for divers, snorkelers and Discover Scuba Divers to enjoy a tour all together.
- Cenotes such as Dos Ojos are beautiful and enjoyable for divers and snorkelers and makes for an enjoyable all day tour.
- If the weather is perfect, there are a few sites in Puerto Morelos that can work for both diving and snorkeling. We need very calm winds, nearly no waves and mild currents.
